Diuretic Herbs
Diuretic herbs promote the formation of urine by the kidneys. They help the removal of excess fluids, salts and toxic substances from the body by increasing the rate of urine production.
Diuretics work in two different ways:
- they reduce the water reabsorption in the nephrons of the kidney;
- they change the osmotic balance causing more water to be lost.
Excess use of Diuretic Herbs may cause:
- weakness
- dizziness
- dry mouth
- dehydration
- kidney failure
- low blood pressure
All herbs should be administered with the consultation of your healthcare practitioner.
