What is the problem with cooked food? Don’t we eat cooked food?

A French chemist Paul Kouchakoff discovered something very interesting in the 1930s. He noticed that as soon as cooked or processed food is tasted, white blood cells rush to the intestines and try to destroy it as if it is a pathogen. When the volunteers ate raw food, their white blood cells remained in place. This phenomenon is called digestive leukocytosis.

The implications of leukocytosis are that every time white blood cells flock to the intestines to deal with cooked food, the rest of the body is left undefended. Imagine when this happens continually, three to four times a day for years. What must it do to the immune system! Raw foods don’t put that stress on the body and the immune system remains available and strong to fight diseases.

However, there is good news. If you eat something cooked after eating something raw, leukocytosis doesn’t happen. The body responds to only the first bite of food. For that reason, it’s sensible to begin every meal with something raw. This is true for both animals and humans. Now, you know why your mother insisted you to eat that salad!
